| Home security specialist Yale has launched an electronic door viewer, providing fabricators and installers with an innovative new method of preventing distraction burglary. Based on the traditional spy hole, the electronic door viewer uses an external camera to show live images of visitors at the front door on a large easy-to-view internal screen.|
Suitable for family members of all ages, the electronic screen can be viewed from a distance as well as different angles, plus theres a zoom-in option available to help read details on identification cards more clearly.
Ideal for apartments or houses where vision is restricted, the weatherproof camera is fitted with two lights for night time use. In addition, an optional SD memory card with the capacity to store date and time-stamped images allows residents to check who has called on their home, while they were out.
Warren Yates, Yale UK Commercial Controller, said: "Recent statistics show there are nearly 13,000 distraction burglaries each year in the UK and it is therefore becoming more important for homeowners to know who is at the door, before it is opened. Using the latest electronics technology, this innovation in door security provides valuable reassurance and an extra level of protection against distraction burglars and bogus officials. Easy to use, its ideal for older or vulnerable residents as well as young families."
Simple to install, the electronic door viewer includes a built-in doorbell and comes complete with a long-life rechargeable battery and separate charger. The internal screen is supplied in a stylish brush-effect aluminium finish and the 32mm diameter camera is a subtle addition to the exterior of the door.
